Tasks & Contracts
Vanguard OT has two permanent objective systems. Ancestral Tasks and Contracts use different interfaces, progress records, limits, points, and rewards. Progress in one system does not count toward the other.
Ancestral Tasks
Ancestral Tasks are available from 0 rebirths and provide selectable kill objectives, Task Points, daily progression, rankings, and reward categories.
Access and Limits
| Rule | Standard | VIP |
|---|---|---|
| Required rebirths | 0 | 0 |
| Starting active slots | 1 | 1 |
| Maximum active slots after permanent unlocks | 3 | 3 |
| Daily completions | 5 | 7 |
There are 22 task definitions, with objectives ranging from 100 to 1,000 kills. The task panel shows the selected creature, required kills, current progress, and the available reward categories.
How to Begin
- Open the Ancestral Tasks panel.
- Review the available targets and select an open task slot.
- Hunt the selected creature until the objective is complete.
- Claim the completed task through the task interface.
Task Points can be used by the Ancestral cosmetic merchants for outfits, addons, and mounts.
Rewards and Ranking
Ancestral Tasks may grant Task Points, experience, currency, and task progression. The panel is the authoritative place to review the exact reward for a selected task. The ranking view tracks Ancestral Task progress only.
Contracts
Contracts unlock at 100 rebirths. They use a separate card-based interface with start, claim, cancel, and refresh actions.
How to Begin
- Reach 100 rebirths.
- Visit the Contract Master to open the Contracts interface.
- Choose a contract card and select Start.
- Complete the listed monster objective.
- Return to the card and select Claim.
Active VIP players may open the system remotely with !contract or !contracts.
Contract Rules
- The system contains 19 separate contract definitions.
- Contracts show their objective and reward preview in the client.
- A contract can be cancelled before completion; cancelled kill progress is cleared.
- Repeatable contracts may begin a cooldown after claiming. The card displays any remaining wait.
- Party kills can count for nearby members when Shared Experience is active.
Contract Points and rewards are unrelated to Ancestral Task Points.
Common Questions
Can one kill count for both systems?
Each system processes its own active objective. If the same creature is selected in both systems and both objectives accept the kill, each system may update independently.
Does VIP remove task limits?
No. VIP increases the Ancestral daily completion allowance and provides remote access to Contracts, but it does not merge the systems or bypass their normal completion rules.
Where are exact rewards listed?
Review the selected task or contract in its in-game panel before starting or claiming. Reward catalogs are kept in game so the displayed values remain current.
